- I just obtained a PPP account with a local ISP. I used to use Pro
- Comm Plus for Windows when I had a shell account and had no problems
- dialing in or doing things.
-
- Now, I have Shiva's dialer and Netscape. After installing the ISP's
- software, I connected just fine -- the FIRST time. Subsequent
- attempts to dial in are met with a message in the Netscape Personal
- Edition dialog box that says:"The port is in use by another telephony
- application..." The message appears even if I "cold" boot the PC.
-
- The only way to "fix" this is to re-install the PPP software. I've
- spoken at length with my ISP and they've supposedly talked to
- Netscape. Neither of them know what's wrong. I sent them output from
- WinSleuth and MSD... neither of them mention any IRQ problems or
- anything of the sort.
-
- Has anyone got an idea as to why this is happening? BTW: the modem is
- an Intel 144/144e.
-
- Thanks
